According to the information released by the Public Security Department of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Province has officially implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy since May 1, with the approval of the State Council. The policy allows international air passengers to stay in China for up to six days without a visa by entering from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, or Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport, and exiting from any of the 32 border crossings in Guangdong Province. The policy will further optimize the customs clearance facilities of Shenzhen Airport, improve the competitiveness of the airport's international transit services, accelerate the construction of the airport as a global aviation hub, and help the construction of a world-class airport group in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As one of the three airports serving as international ports of entry in Guangdong Province, Shenzhen Airport has officially implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy since May 1. It has been another border-crossings customs clearance policy of great significance for Shenzhen Airport to develop its international services after it officially implemented 24-hour customs clearance at the end of 2015. At present, Shenzhen Airport is accelerating its transformation into an international aviation hub, with international passenger routes reaching nearly 50 cities on 5 continents. The policy will not only make it convenient for international travelers to visit Guangdong, participate in business activities, and engage in exhibitions and transnational business, but also facilitate the transit and transfer of international passengers through Shenzhen Airport. The policy also helps guarantee efficient airport transit services, maximize the advantages of Shenzhen Airport's route network, attract more international passengers to choose to transit through Shenzhen Airport as an international aviation hub, and play an important role in ensuring and promoting the establishment of Shenzhen Airport as an international aviation hub.

To ensure the smooth operation of the transit service after the implementation of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, Shenzhen Airport initially cooperated with its border crossings inspection station to set up a special 24-hour/144-hour visa-free transit inspection channel and a special rest area at the border entry inspection station. It then transformed the international transit area and the visa-free transit special inspection counter and improved guidance signs, lightboxes, and labels. Normal entry passengers and visa-free transit passengers have been properly separated since May 1.
